Questions about Partitioning Eeebuntu with Windows

Okay, so... I don't know much about linux, but I've been wanting to learn linux since I was about 12.

Anyway, I just bought a new EeePC 1001P. I want to put Eeebuntu 3 on it and I was curious if I could get some help.

I want to dual boot windows 7 starter, and Eeebuntu 3. So, my question is... Or rather a couple of questions. Haha.

Do I need a separate drive for windows installs and Eeebuntu?

Also, can my music and pictures be shared between windows and linux?

This is how I usually have my computers partitioned.

C drive for windows operating system
D drive for software installs
E drive for data like music, pictures, etc.

I'm not sure what to do... I took my eeepc apart to get to the hard drive to ghost the drive and my warranty has been void because I took the chassis apart and tore a sticker that was covering a screw that was in my way to getting to the harddrive.

I'm pretty pissed that asus has done this. I own the property so why should it void my warranty to take the hard drive out to protect myself by ghost imaging the hard drive?

Anyway enough with my rant... I'd appreciate any input on how I should set up my linux in conjunction with windows. Pleast let me know if I should keep my windows and linux install drives separate. I read on a website that it's best to have a separate partition for /home incase I need to reinstall eeebuntu.

Sorry if I sound like an idiot, I have zero experience with linux.

1. so long as the number of partitions on your hard drive do not excede 4 partitions, you do not need a separate drive to install eb3, you can install it side by side with windows.

2. you can share music with windows so long as your E drive is a fat32 partition, if it is ntfs you may have some difficulty.

i see that you are using a newer model, the 1001P, chances are that you will have issues running eb3 because your model is newer than eb3 and not all of your hardware will be supported, chances are your wifi, fn keys, and maybe ethernet wont work. youre free to try eb4 which should have much better support for your model, but i suggest you read some of the posts here (specifically my post about problems and solutions with ubiquity, the installer) and get an idea for some of the workarounds with some of the bugs in it.
