I ran the update manager this morning. At the end of the update it froze. After 3 minutes it hit the power switch to reboot the computer. I know it said to wait but it seemed I could have waited forever. When the computer rebooted the eepc tray icon was gone and there seems to be no way to get it back. Everything else seems ok.

not exactly the same, but I also miss the eeepc-tray icon after updating...

I have rebooted various times, but there is no way to get the icon back...

Any idea about what might be going on??

Find eeepc-tray in synaptic and install it.

Maybe I have not explained myself clearly...

My problem (and I believe it is also billg310's) is that it IS installed, and the icon was there. After the update, it is gone. According to Synaptic it is installed. Actually, I have re-installed it, and nothing has happened. I have even re-configured the panel, and nothing either. The icon is still not there...

By the way, I have also "apt-get purged" eeepc-acpi-utiities and eeepc-tray, cleaned and re-installed, without success. The darn icon is not appearing in the panel...

The script you want to run is /usr/bin/eeepc-tray.exe

I have tried to run it from the terminal, and this is what I get...

Try accessing it from the menus in the GUI. I think it's under 'System Tools'.

A while ago, the applet did not appear in my notification area either. After selecting it once from the GUI menu, it came back and stayed.
