I have the "keyboard indicator" applet on my panel. You can get to the same place by System > Preferences > Keyboard Just add a keyboard layout, and it'll be on the list. Go through all the options to see how they could benefit you. I use shift+caps to switch between languages.

i have also a problem with my keyboard. i try to enable and disable the keypad from the eeetray and now every time i power on my netbook says unable to enable touchpad. ensure xorg.conf is properly configured... what can i do? only i want not to see the message.my keyboard works fine...

That's referring to the touchpad you use to move the mouse. Check out the very first post in this thread. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3866 Toward the end of the first post, you will see an example of an /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. Everywhere section that refers to Input Device and Mouse, copy and paste into your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. Backup your original xorg.conf first.
