Even though linux is relatively 'safe' compared to other OSes, IMVHO it would be desirable to have virus autoscan as a default application / utility. NO OS is truly 'safe' in this hostile world...

8) Also, it would be nice if utillities such as Xsane, PAN, and a mobile phone utility be also included in the default menu items. 8)

Nothing, but nothing, beats K3b as the optimal CD/DVD utility, IMHO.
Cheese Webcam and The Gimp are indispensible... and since this distro is aimed at netbooks a screen-magnifier utility should be also on the menus among the default applications.

Anyone care to vote on other highly desirable / rated / preferred apps :?:

If I had a 40GB SSD, I'd probably want lots of apps, too. :)

In Standard, Compiz has a magnification feature - press the Super key and scroll the mouse wheel.

Incidentally, the 'Wishlists' section is here: viewforum.php?f=17

I've heard some people asking to make LXDE the default desktop, instead of Gnome. That might be reasonable, considering that it is lighter, faster, and has a smaller battery appetite.
P.S. Almost forgot. The thing that would be on top of my wishlist is this: Guys, please, do some digging around the graphics acceleration. I mean, I know that the EEE can't run Crysis, but the fact that I can't even play native games from the repos suxxxx. Oh, and in this viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2230&hilit=LXDE topic a guy said that Mandriva handles graphics about 7 times faster (220 fps vs. 33 fps)

I'd like to be able to add tabs on the right hand side of the Nbr so you could add widgets or section off your folders.

Wishes for new cosmetic for next relies.

#ACPI#tray#icon##
Mach more informative icon - if anything is OFF - then mast be GRAY icon appear. Blue-tooth, touch-pad, web-cam, card-reader, cpu-fan - now only "wifi-off and sound conditions" are visual. Also i wanna see performance level in tray (powersafe, etc).
Gnome CPU-monitor applet shows "-1%" for me on any "level" - may be add icon in tray with current Mghz?
Indicators for NUMlock, SCRlock, CAPSLOCK states - better on one icon.
(Yes- i wanna see big informative tray.. bat on right side of the screen)

More key-binding with Fn-key - for example Fn+F7=increase volume, Fn+alt+F7=decrease volume, Fn+super+F7=mute. And complete list of them show on first launch - for newbies.
In that list add hotkeys for move (with cursor keys) current window to stick it left side to left side of screen (up to up, etc - for all 4th keys), if its possible.
As pure GNOME (without compise) have a bad-realised "long" hot-keys - may be write little application to use(easy add, delete etc) it through acpi-utilites?

Add biggest monitor resolution not only by bad-looking scalable method bat also with "virtual" resolution like i810pan

#OS##
I dont know how eeeubuntu compliant with http://lesswatts.org/tips/ now

Multy-touch touchpad

#Gnome##
How mach times newbie reinstall eeebuntu, when seen it first time? my count was 5.
Gnome desktop backup needed for keeping ONLY look of os - panels,power-options, shortcuts. May be its will be cool to "rotate" backups in realtime by hotkeys
Examples:

For foreign users add flag indicator of current keyboard layout
Solution for russian(for example) users for standard GNOME applet

#Login#screen##
Is it possible to not ask username - only password? (bat with button for "tab"|mouse to change user)

You're quite welcome to post in russian.

The keyboard indicator is displayed when you have multiple languages installed and can be assigned a hot key to switch.

System - Preferences - Keyboard - Layouts tab to add the layout for your language.

Then, add the indicator to the panel, Keyboard indicator applet.

Steve.

Strange it should show as an image, it must be the language pack that adds it in.

This is mine, from default. It shows as horizontal text.

I'll have a look at those links as you suggested.

I would like to see an easy way to connect my Blackberry to my eeepc. I know that you have Bluetooth capability but something that would do it in one click would be super. I have yet to be able to get my Blackberry and my eeepc connected. I have tried programs like Barry but they either don't work or don't install correctly. Anything that would improve connectivity with the BB would be super.

Why not integrate the Web browser Chromium by default on eeebuntu ?
I know that it's under the license of big brother google. But also, it's the lightwedge browser that i've tested, and the "interface" (i don't know how to say that in english) is very useful for the little screen of a netbook.
So... Why not ? :D
