Hey All,
As I continue to play with my new eeebuntu install, I'm noticing a couple of issues. One is the cpu temp easily gets upto 160F without much usage. Is this normal? Second is I can't seem to get the machine to dim the backlight when idle. It also doesn't shut the backlight off when it turns the display off. Any suggestions?

Hey All,
Not sure how in the world a restart fixed the backlight issue, but nevertheless it works now. However, the system still runs very hot. Just curious if anyone else experiences that.

That is a little warm. Your fans running? I tend to run 50-55 degrees celcius (51 degrees C is about 123F).

Yea, the fans do kick on, but I guess not enough to stop it from reaching 160F+. /proc/eee also exists and I can cat the contents to see fan speed and temperature.

Thanks, J Silverman
It should run between 55-60C. You can play with the temp settings in /etc/default/eeepc-acpi.local, click help and read the configuration article for information about the fan threshold control.

Hi fewt,
Is there something I can do to get a bit more control over the fans? I adjusted the temps, but would rather have more control.
Thanks, J Silverman
More control like how ??
That's like saying, "I like eeebuntu, but I'd rather have more usability."
wtf does that mean ??

Well, I'd like more control over what temps the fans kick on and when they kick off and how fast they spin. Also, it seems that adjusting the temps in the EeePC ACPI settings didn't have any real affect. I lowered them to pretty low temps and the fans acted as normal.

Sorry the noob questions buy my 701 4G is running hot and I can´t hear the fans kicking in.
I have the /proc/eee directory with four files in it. And then?
I also don't now how to monitor temperature as I did in 2.0 Standard. I typed "acpi -t" in a terminal but got "command not found".
Any ideas.
Edit: Just ran "/etc/acpi/eeepc/eeepc-fan-control.sh" and hear the fans turning on. Do I need to run this every time? Automatic? I still can't find the temperature monitor.

If you can't type "acpi -t" then something is wrong. Try this:
Code:
sudo aptitude reinstall acpi acpid
You might require a restart after that.
