Hi folks,

The house where i live has recently changed it's modem type and the secutiry measure is now WPA2 personal rather than WEP.

Network manager finds the signal ok and when i go to connect it asks for the password. after i press ok it tries to connect but with no luck and it eventually asks me to re-enter the password. I then tried WICD but that doesn't even see the connection :(.

After that i went through the internet trying all the uggestion of downloading the packages and doing install and make install but i can't seem to do the whole process with something not working.

I tried Jolly Cloud and the driver worked fine with that, unfirtunately Jolly Cloud didn't regonise my external hard drives!!

ANd the extreme irony is that i was the person who was set up the password!!!!

any help would be good

steve

Check the settings on the router, make sure its WPA2 using AES. Also, try adding your system as a static IP under the router

I had some wireless issues. I flashed the router with DD-WRT, and all is well.

Hi,

The owner got an I.T guy in and changed all the passwords :( so can't chech about AES.

So i'm kinda wondering what DD-WRT is and how to use it?

DD-WRT is Linux firmware for your router. Sometimes its not the easiest to set up though, and you need to check compatibility very carefully
