Hi was chatting on the xubuntu IRC channel, hoping to get directions for the ability to make a startup command. I simply want to start the application 'stjerm' after login automatically. RC levels seem far to low-level for this!

Anyway, midst convo, i was brought attention to SLiM a 'Simple LogIn Manager'. Supposed to be lighter weight than GDM, which is the Gnome Desktop Manager, something I believe LXDE users want to get away from, that happens to be installed as default by the LXDE eeebuntu beta 1.

Well, I snooped around, and setting it up couldn't be easier, following the guide on this site:

http://ubuntu-lxde.wikidot.com/slim

The computer does feel the slightest bit happier (or is it just me, having gained a geek point?)

And though I did away with GDM, I never did find out how to set up a simple startup script...
