eeePC model: 2g surf (700)
Aurora version: Base 3.0
Anyone get autologin to work on LXDE 3.0 beta 2? Btw, Kudos to everyone who put this distro together. It's breathed new life into my eeePC 700!

Tried adding the following to /etc/gdm/gdm-custom.conf ... but the desktop available after boot had no customizations upon login (i.e. panel applets) and the application widget didn't open the application list when clicked.
Code:
AutomaticLoginEnable=true
AutomaticLogin=whatever_username

I have _not_ yet tried to add the following suggested by this, http://www.perturb.org/display/entry/812/
Code:
[daemon]
TimedLoginEnable=true
TimedLogin=your_username
TimedLoginDelay=0

This page http://mypclinuxos.com/forum/index.php?topic=2662.0 suggests:
Quote:
you need to open lxdecc > System > GDM Settings

However I couldn't find that app on the command line, GUI menus, or in apt.

Any ideas? My eee700 is on loan, so I wont get to try any fixes till next week. Thanks in advance. - Jesse

Yes. this works in ubuntu karmic + lxde hopefully it will work in eeebuntu too.

For some reason you can't unlock the gdm settings module in lXDE by doing:-
preferences>login screen.

The way round this is to edit the file directly by:
sudo gedit /etc/gdm/custom.conf
and making
AutomaticLoginEnable=true

save this then do:
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart

and it all works for me - presumably this is a bug that will be fixed at some point.
if ever you need to change your autologin details just set the parameter to false.
