Hello!

A newbie to Linux and have wanted to try as an alternative to Windows. Generally found it pretty good but recently had an error with the update manager that I can't seem to get around after looking through the forums.

Have to admit I'm not up on the ins and outs of Linux so all help gratefully received!

W: GPG error: http://repos.eeebuntu.org eb3 Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 81D820A9BB7A1A83
W: An error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. GPG error: http://www.statux.org jaunty Release: The following signatures were invalid: NODATA 1 NODATA 2

W: Failed to fetch http://www.statux.org/ubuntu/dists/jaunty/Release

W: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Believe one of the errors is due to the acpi utilities which is not supported, but main issue seems to be over missing keys?

Thanks
Steve

Have tried getting the key using:

wget -q http://eeebuntu.org/Eeebuntu.key | sudo apt-key add Eeebuntu.key

In terminal get "OK" but then still get the error in Update Manager. :-(

Oh and unticked statux.org in Software Sources so eliminated that error.

Search for GPG error on google.
statux.org doesn't exist anymore.

Thanks. Sorted the Statux.org error after the initial post by unticking this repository in software sources.

The real problem is :

W: GPG error: http://repos.eeebuntu.org eb3 Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 81D820A9BB7A1A83

This no longer works. The Eeebuntu.key file no longer exists.

I've had to do a complete re-install from an old ISO (taskbar decided to disappear) and now I can't update the distribution. I'd much appreciate the magic incantation to get this working.

Thanks in advance
Stan

The error is
gpg: can't open `Eeebuntu.key': No such file or directory
Cheers

Hi. I gave up and installed Ubuntu 10.04. Works fine from the first install on my Eeepc901.

Cheers

Good to hear that Ubuntu 10.04 works out of the box. Shame they're going to ditch the Gnome desktop in the next version as I really don't like the look of their proposed desktop.

Which still leaves me in a quandry.

Don't like the new Ubuntu desktop, NBR interface is even worse.
No support for EB3
No development for EB4
Still waiting for the first Aurorao release

Any other suggestions for a supported distro (that will be supported in the future) that will function nicely on a Eeepc 701 and has the Gnome desktop?
Thanks in advance
Stan

Thanks for the reply. I tried the wget commands as listed above with the new URL but it doesn't seem to be working out tonight. I'll try again later.

In the meantime I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my Eee 901 which after a couple of hiccoughs seems to be working a treat. Wifi is fine, worked out of the box and most of the special keys seem to work too.
Regards
Stan

I enter the wget etc line into terminal, enter my password, the terminal gives an OK and then remains unusable. I have to kill it and open a new one. Is this the expected result?

The update manager error seems to have disappeared but no new updates, which I presume was to be expected.
Cheers
Stan

I've started having problems also.
The only updates i ever see lately are for Google Chrome. When I go into settings and look at the first tab for eeebuntu repositories, I am unable to select any of them, and they are all de-selected.
Tried the wget command along with the mentioned link to the eeebuntu key, thinking refreshing that would help...all I get in terminal is OK. But nothing changes.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
