This morning my wife's 900ha ran an update. I saw something about eeepc-apci-utilities and eeepc-tray flash past.
Now the damn thing switches the wireless network connector off in bios whenever it goes to sleep, hibernate or shutdown. This means a restart into bios is always necessary to re-enable the adapter.
Very annoying.
Any suggestions?
PS: SLightly OT, but why to ubuntu based distro updates always have to break something?

Everything depends on everything else, that's really the issue. This newer version of Eee PC ACPI requires 2.6.30 in order to correct some driver issues that I was working around poorly in earlier versions. I shut off your WIFI / Bluetooth when your Eee is put to sleep or hibernated to comply with FAA regulations. If you boot on a plane in the air and your WIFI light is on, you are breaking the law.
There is a thread in the general forum on fully updating your Eee:

<sigh> I know how it is. Anyway, good news; this fixed it.
Please could I ask a few questions to fewt or anyone else in the know about the above update procedure. I'm a Linux newcomer and have the problem with the wifi not functional on my 900A after running the updates. Looking at the above link:
1. Step 0 says to make sure you're on the 2.6.29-1-netbook kernel. I can not get wifi working to connect to internet with this kernel. I can use a wired link though. Should I boot into this kernel (if that's the correct terminology) and use my wired link from here on?
2. Step 2 is about MTRR-related stuff. I don't know what this is. Is it an important step for fixing the wifi? It says it's for a fluid video fix. Can I skip this step?
3. Step 3 is Xorg-related stuff. Can I skip this step too?
4. I'm guessing steps 4 and 5 are important to the wifi?
5. Step 6 says optional so I will skip this too.
6. Last question: has anyone reported this as having worked as a fix for the wifi issues on the 900A model?

Hi again,
I may have partly answered this myself after meddling with things which I know nothing about...
I followed the steps above, skipping those that I guessed I may not need. I now have kernel 2.6.30-02063004-generic. Sadly, I was still not able to use my wireless LAN. But, then I altered the /boot/grub/menu.lst as suggested by DJKnut in this post:
This has got my 900A wireless LAN up and running. Only one caveat noticed so far - after using this fix when booting, after the grub menu I get the following message flashed up on screen:
Starting up ... [0.888028] pciehp 0000:00:1c.3:pcie04: Device 0000:01:00.0 already exists at 0000:01:00, cannot hot-add [0.888091] pciehp 0000:00:1c.3:pcie04: Cannot add device at 0000:01:00

Those warnings have been addressed a handful of times on these boards. They are innocuous.
Glad you're up and running!

hi guys, this problem makes me really mad.. i have the same issue with updated eeepc-acpi-utility, so no wifi works for me. none of the solutions above helped, probably as i cannot run 2.6.19 kernel [somehow it has no reiserfs]. the only solution to get a wifi is to remove eeepc-acpi-utility, but now my wifi is not restored after suspend.. may someone please help, as i simply cannot use the distro this way?...
