Hi, this is probably a bit of a duh question, but what exactly do the performance modes in the eeepc tray mean? what is it meant to do?

I don't want to overclock my eee, I've heard from someone I trust that it is probably not the best idea, and since I don't know the ramifications of doing it I would like to stop it if this is what is happening.

It facilitates overclocking, however it does not overclock by default. It reads your clock generator settings and uses them.

The Eee PC is very safe to overclock, most users do. There is a battery life penalty, and small heat increase doing so.

Using the defaults are absolutely safe though, as they are the settings that Asus programmed into your clock generator chip.

Just to be sure: Does that mean that Super high "performance" is 900 mHz om my EEE 900. (with celeron 900 processor)?

Im very happy with the ACPI tray in EEEbuntu 3. It easier and works much better that the script-stuff in 2.0.
Youǘe have done a very good job on that! :D

That's correct, if your CPU is clocked by Asus at 900 then it will run at 900 with EeePC ACPI Utilities. Some CPUs clock to 630 or so in the 700 series.

Super High Performance means everything is on, in the fastest default mode.

I've been playing with the SHE interface but I don't have the support built in yet.
