Hi there, recently got my eee pc1000 and love it (notwithstanding xandros). Before taking the step of installing eeebuntu or any other netbook remix distro (I'm a complete noob to Linux) I have read the instructions on here relating to installing on the 40gb (sic) HD. I'm assuming on the original xandros install, that the 8gb hard drive is partitioned as it is, to either; provide a swap space or a recovery partition. If i follow the instructions on here & tinker with partition sizes, will I be able to revert to original OS (if it all goes horribly wrong) especially as I don;t understand ext2/3/4/root etc.
Also, is there any 'caps' indicator? as on xandros it is on the 'task bar'
thanking you in anticipation (& eager to lose xandros)

so far as you dont delete the recovery partition, you should be able to reinstall xandros without any problems.

Yes but how do I identify which of the two 4gb's is the recovery partition? (if either of the partitions actually is one at all) the eee pc1000 comes with a recovery disc. Can this disc re-partition back to original settings?
How big does the 'root' partition need to be? (I presume this is where the eeebuntu OS would sit). What size swap do I need and does it have to be in it's own separate partition).
Finally, would I gain much in performance by upgrading ram to 2gb from the default 1gb?
