I've been to long away from Linux... and I was long time wondering between Jolicloud and eeebuntu.. now I'm back with mi old friend EEEbuntu 3.0.

I have eeepc 1005ha, and I haven't yet updated anything.

1. I really need to get all the fastkeys.. fn+f2-f7,f10-12 and some button to on/off touchpad. how can i made this happen. help or link to help please.

2. I feel Chromium is better browser that anyother. how I install it to eeebuntu.

3. Do I dare update everything, because last time when I did that, i lost all FN-keys... those didn't work any longer after update?

4. For some reason no matter what server I use, I can't get SMplayer, it stops everytime to some tff-extra-..font.. thingie?

5. I have problems to make system totally Finnish, it can't load that either?

I've been wandering in the internet last couple hours, trying to find answers, but I didn't find any.

1. get a new kernel, if the hotkeys and touchpad toggle off dont work it means the kernel does not support it, which means you have to get a newer kernel that may have these drivers.

2.download the .deb package for google chrome from google, open up the package to install it.

3. that happened because when you updated everything it also updated the kernel, to avoid this simply go to system>administration>software sources, then go down to the one that says array and disable it, that way you wont get the .29 kernel from array.

4. youre going to have to elaborate because i dont know whats wrong, maybe uninstalling the right ttf would stop that.

5. you want to change the language of eeebuntu? if so the you should be able to by going to sysem>administration>language selector and changing the language and if you want to change the keyboard layout go to system>preferences>keyboard and you should be able to do it there, if the language you require isnt there then you might have to download the package containing the language via synaptic.

thank you for answer's I try now how it goes.

I wonder, that because I use mobile broadband, could that be the reason that "installing" new software is so hard?

I try again, after updates, to install Smplayer and get chance the system language to FInnish, those two are the mystery for me, because time to time, everything goes easy as .... and like now, it stop's allways middle of downloading, and with Smplayr it's this "ttf-dejavu-extra" that it just can't get.

I'll be back after updates.

oh one more thing... is there some.. wiki how to increase batterylife.. because right now it's about 2h less than with XP?
and one more, can I somehow cut little less those; give the password before you can do this.. or this...? it's kind of annoying that it ask that almost every time when I like chance power saver from super high performance.

please forgive me, the possible weird looking sentences; English is mi third language and top to that I have dyslexia so I need to get all as simple as possible ..

I just hope to get everything work, so I can happily wait for 4.0 it sure does sound something to wait for!

if you want to help increase battery life, you can turn off hardware that you dont use, i hardly use usb's and LAN so i always have those off and just turn them on when i need them, you can also try installing powertop as it helps save energy on intel based system, as for the password thing its kind of a bad idea to try to stop it from prompting you for a password because that is one of the ways that linux makes your system safe, the password prompts prevents something like a virus from damaging your system and rendering it unusable, so its a security measure.
