eeePC model: 1000H
Aurora version: Beta 4.0
Captain Slog, stardate 429.2008.9 and a bit...

Managed to build a running version but with some issues:

Sound mixer default needs changing
No audio recording
Volume keys didn't work
compiz not enabled by default
made a complete hash of the usplash screen, back to default for now
Sound driver won't unload properly causing the eee to stay on when shutdown
asus_acpi is blacklisted and hardy uses asus_laptop by default

Things that do work:

There is sound of sorts (need to patch the alsa files to work properly)
Using latest madwifi for wireless
Using latest uvc for webcam (works in cheese and gstreamer)
suspend works
hibernate works

What went?

cheese (though may consider putting back in now it works with webcam)
games (none installed by default)
all surplus xserver drivers (kept i810 and intel)
remembered to clear out the apt-cache
OSX icons, some of the places links had changed
camorama
scrollkeeper removed from cron

What stayed?

More or less everything that was included in the orginal and not removed (how lazy can I be? :) )

What's new?

Aqua icon pack
usplash updated (if I can get it to work properly)
madwifi source (in case of rebuild)
uvc source (in case of rebuild)
NTLM proxy server (no GTK yet, working on it!! :D )

Impressions?

It runs ok but will not know actual performance until it's on the SSD (testing has been from flash so far). Need to apply the performance scripts and modify the eee support scripts to take into account the changes in hardy and the fact that most things are built from source.

We want's it my precioussssssss!!

Should be ready by the weekend but not making any concrete promises as a trip to Paris, oh la la, is almost here!!!

Oh for info, in case anyone else is building an iso, use the squashfs-tools from debian unstable as the ones with hardy get a bit confused and stop working at around 73%... not that I tried it 3 or 4 times before realising it wasn't me

An extra bit

If I don't get everything done I'll upload the iso anyway... though I would not install it to the SSD it may be ok to test from a flash (at least wireless, video and shutdown will be working).

Lovely stuff, been waiting for you to post something about Hardy!

Do it before Paris! My missus is off to Paris this weekend with her mother, so I get a weekend to play round with the distro if you get it done!
