We have provided EeeConfigure in all three versions of Eeebuntu.
EeeConfigure is the system which allows you to run the usual tweaking scripts that are required to get Eeebuntu working correctly across all the various models of the EeePC range (and other machines too, in the near future).
After you have installed Eeebuntu, nearly everything will be working but you may find the odd function key doesn't do what it should, or something is missing from your fstab.
You can run EeeConfigure, select your specific machine and then run the specific script that cures that problem - no need to play around in the terminal.
Two very important things to consider:
1) Before applying a script in EeeConfigure, make sure the issue you are trying to cure actually exists. Don't just apply all the scripts in one go - understand what each one does and determine whether you need to run it or not. For example, on a 701 the mute key should work straight after install - on that machine you probably won't need to run the 'Fix mute key' script.
2) Before posting in the forums about an issue, make sure you have tried applying the relevant EeeConfigure script. Some people are complaining that certain modifications to fstab or their Gnome configuration haven't been applied. They haven't run EeeConfigure!
Default location for Eee configure is Applications > System Tools It should be there on any install. Did you try and run it from terminal or the run app?
Eeeconfigure should be found in the Applications -> System Tools menu on any install. You can run it just by clicking on it.

If for some peculiar reason it isn't in the menu - and if it isn't, please let us know anything you have have done to remove it - then you can add it back yourself or run it from the command line.
To Add It Back
Open System -> Control Center
Open Look and Feel -> Main Menu
Add a new menu item in System Tools, type 'Application', name 'Eeebuntu Config', command:

Hello there,
Yes, when my setup first installed I did not seen eeeConfigure and I had done nothing. Every time I start I get an error (shown below).
I followed your instructions for manual addition and now I have my configuration menu fine.
edit: When I used the last eeebuntu with scripts it worked great to get the wireless on/off function key working. However, with the configure, it didn't work for me. I tried : -Install Modules -hotkey Wireless Off -hotkey Wireless On -hotkey Wireless (on/off)
(not all at once, I started with (on/off) and tried more things after trying that). I also had the configuration set for my Model (EeePC 900).
I'm not sure if you want this discussion here or in another forum.

Carly,
We're aware of a few "teething" issues with eeeconfigure and some of the configuration scripts I used in the default database. We are working on an eeeconfiigure update that will fix the errors you currently have. We were planning to release the update this weekend but a few testing issues with other models dropped out of the blue so we have decided to fix those too and release an all in one update rather than incremental. Please bear with us, the update will be there soon.
Steve.

When i run Eeeconfigure and select my eee model 1000hd the script options are blank. I have tried running eeeconfigure settings for another eee model with a celeron proc. but all the other models with the celeron also have ssd and I do not want to have any settings started that are designed for the ssd, even if all they do is decrease writes to the drive. I used the settings for eee 900 and all is well, but the 900 is ssd so what scripts should i not use? I tried to use the 904hd settings but the scripts were blank with it also. I can hear my HHD kicking on and off a lot when running firefox, and I don't recall it doing that before. Also, Is there a way to have the on demand setting idle at lower than 562mhz? I have the option to set the proc all the way down to 112mhz manually, having the proc idle down to 112 to 337mhz would be nice. Even if it only gives me a few extra min of battery life, cpu temps would be lower.

Oops I posted another forum that was asking about this topic. This is where I need to be. I've got a 701 4G Surf, and all of the hardware is stock. 512mb ram, 4 Gig SDD, etc. I'm still kind of lost trying to use this program. When i highlight something and click "execute" it returns this error: "Please choose the configuration options to run"
I also tried to cut and paste the text in the scripts into a terminal and run it that way and that didn't work either. I have no idea how to do any of this. I'm a major noob.

In eeeconfigure there is an option to copy scripts from one model to another. It is detailed in the user guide (coming soon).
If the script options were blank it means that we did not have the relevant scripts at the time of release and they need adding in future updates. Without some research I'm not really sure what effect running scripts for other models will have as some configurations are very model/hardware specific.
If you do find scripts for your model then send them in to eeebuntu at eeebuntu . org and they'll be added in the next update.

The scripts for the eee900 seem to work fine on my 1000hd, but for a couple of problems. Other than the HDD kicking on and off excessively, especially when using firefox, and i don't remember having that problem before. The wifi Fn key and button up top do not work, well the light stays on, and if i disable it with the wifi manager it still stays on. So I am not sure if the hardware is actually disabling or not. CPU scaling and other issues seem to be working fine. So, hope that is helpful to someone.

Hello all,
Heheheee answered my question on the other thread. I didn't realize that those little brackets on the left side of the scripts are actually checkboxes! Thanks for helping!
