I need to make the touchpad go away so I can type without the constant nonsense of the cursor moving all over the place every time I accidentally touch the damned thing. I've given up on trying to get the thing to recognize when I'm typing, so I just want to shut it off completely and use a mouse.

Unchecking the "enable touchpad" under mouse preferences doesn't work.
Disabling it from the tray doesn't work.

What the heck do I need to do to disable it completely other than opening the thing up and cutting the wires? Or maybe glueing a piece of cardboard over it?
