eeePC 901 FIN

Positive:
1+. Only the minimum. I could install those parts, which I need and not what someby else wants.
2+. BT-GPS and TangoGPS running after I gave 7 commands. 4 is the minimum.
3+. WLAN works fine
4+. Thunderbird, gpsd installed fine with synaptic, others from dnloaded files within Nautilus.
5+. Old data is still there in /dev/sdb !
6+. USB and SD memories OK
7+. smb OK to my home servers
8+. looks cute.

Negative:
1-. Thinderbird Lightning ver 0.9 is not in repositories. OK version can be found
(lightning-extension_0.9+nobinonly-0mint1_i386.deb)
2-. Saunalahti mokkula (GPRS modem) don't start by itself. Didn't have time to play with it.
3-. Only one user
4-. There seems to be a swap on /dev/sda
5-. ext3, some might have wanted ext2.
6-. noatime missing from /etc/fstab
7-. /home/<user> in /dev/sda1. Easy to fix and it might be a good thing after all
( I like to have /dev/sdb1 mounted as /home, as I have in all my PC )
8-. I didn't totally like the partitioner. It somehow just didn't work in my eyes.
9-. Two toolbars eating real estate.
10-. Something wrong with the keyboard repeat rate. I get a lot of doubles and triples.

Installed so far: Thunderbird, TB Lightning 0.9, GPSD, TangoGPS, VLC, Some addons for FF.
Going to install: kpaint,

Missing: a new discussion area for this new version subdivided to good/bad/wishlist/problems/discussion

Gran total: I like it !

Thanks for the feedback!

A couple of comments on your negatives:

4 and 5

It looks like you chose the automatic partitioning. If you partition manually, you can choose not to have a swap and select the format of your drive yourself.

6

Looks like you haven't run the scripts in Eeeconfigure. One of them adds noatime to fstab.

Good thing there are scripts for stuff that you can do with a text editor... like add noatime to fstab.

What is the root password for the live cd? This is ridiculous. I can't even install it.
I used the boot disk creation feature on 8.10 on my main machine. Should have I used unetbootin?
But no password that I try works. So I'm guessing that its not my password. wtf!?!? :?:

[EDIT] Yikes! Don't know where that passwd came from, but I re-liveUsb-ed it with unetbootin and everything is fine now.
Please excuse that outburst.
