Hello All
Please could you assist me in clarifying the various terms and phrases that are particular to forums of this kind.
Please start by reading through the following statements that I have made based purely on my own understanding and say whether you agree with them or not.
1. The word 'forum' itself refers to the whole website and everything within it.
2. Posts are the individual messages that people place on the forum (website) to communicate with other users
3. Users place their posts on 'boards' which allow for the posts to be sorted into useful categories.
If you have any additional terms that you think are useful to know, please could you mention them.

1. Forum could mean the entire forum.auroraos.org or it could also refer to a particular "category" such as "General Chit Chat" or "Getting Involved".
2. Yes, you just "posted". You also started a "thread" or a "topic". In this thread, you are the original poster (OP).
3. It is proper etiquette to post "on-topic" and in the correct forum. Notice how I used "forum" to refer to an area of the board, e.g. "Wireless and Networking". A lot of times, people post in the wrong spot, and it is one of the moderator's job to make sure that a post is in the correct forum. You don't want to start a thread about upgrades in the Wireless and Networking forum.
