10.4 installed fine and ran sweet as pie

After initial use of the Update Manager it updated the kernel to 2.6.32-23-generic default which doesn't boot ----> just goes into endless loop of restarting the system - just a blank screen, BIOS screen, blank screen, etc. When I manually intervene the boot process by pressing the shift key and get the old fashioned boot menu, I select the older version of the kernel (pre Update Manager) version 2.6.32-21-generic which boots fine - Currently on 10.4 Net book Remix.

I've checked around and the closest I can find are issues with GRUB and GRUB2 with the problems described are "vaguely" similar to my own.

Please help as I'd like to use the latest kernel

We don't use ubuntu or that kernel.
Try using the .33 or .34 kernel.
